FRCP to Chairman APS

Dr Syed Iftikar Ahmed , an Alumni of Assam Medical College, India , who is the Medical Director of AIDS Prevention Society of Guwahati, Assam has been officially conferred the prestigious FRCP ( London) – “Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians”, by the President of the Royal College of Physicians ( RCP) in an august ceremony held at the Iconic ‘Dorchester Library’ on 16th July, 2024 in London in the traditions and Legacy of the Royal Charter .
Dr Ahmed’s decades long work on Infectious and Tropical Diseases , HIV/ AIDS treatment, management , prevention, care and research has been internationally recognised.

Senior Censor of RCP, Dr Daniel Furmedge read out the Citation about Dr Ahmed and his academic expertise and achievements. Censor is a senior official of RCP concerned with examinations of the RCP, maintaining standards and education.

FRCP, London is conferred to some of the most inspirational and innovative physicians in the world and It is a mark of achievement and skill as a doctor that recognizes ongoing contribution to the profession.

Royal College of Physicians London ( Formally founded in 23 September 1518 received a Royal Charter) comprising of members of the Board of Examiners and Censors, Board of Directors, Registrar and the RCP President elected Dr Ahmed for FRCP (London) in August 2023.


“Special Consultative Status” to our Non- Government Organisation (NGO) – “AIDS PREVENTION SOCIETY”

The United Nations, Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in its special sessions has decided to adopt by the Council to Grant “Special Consultative Status” to our Non- Government Organisation (NGO) – “AIDS PREVENTION SOCIETY”.

The United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) is one of the six principal organs of the United Nations .

The United Nations System consists of the United Nations’ six principal bodies (the UN General Assembly, Security Council, Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), Trusteeship Council, International Court of Justice (ICJ), and the UN Secretariat)


Highest Civilian Award – “Axom Gaurav” (Pride of Assam) conferred to Dr S I Ahmed, Chairman cum Medical Director of AIDS Prevention Society of Guwahati by the Government of Assam

Dr Syed Iftikar Ahmed , an Alumni of Assam Medical College, India , who is the Medical Director of AIDS Prevention Society of Guwahati, Assam has been officially conferred the prestigious highest civilian award – “ Axom Gaurav “ (Pride of Assam) by the Government of Assam .



Dr. S I Ahmed with Prof Luc Montagnier of National Pasteur Institute, PARIS, Who won the NOBEL PRIZE in Medicine in 2008 for being the Co-discover of HIV.
